Statistics Centre − Abu Dhabi (SCAD) is the official source of statistical data in Abu Dhabi Emirate. It was established on 28 April 2008, in accordance with Law No. (7) 2008, promulgated under a decree by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may Allah protect him). The Law entrusts SCAD with the task of developing and organizing statistical work including the production, analysis, and dissemination of official statistics in Abu Dhabi Emirate. The Centre is also responsible for the integration and harmonization of statistics produced by other local departments and entities, including the standardisation of statistical concepts and definitions. As the official body concerned with the collection of statistical data in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, SCAD assumes the functions of preparing statistical business plans that serve the Emirate's development program. SCAD conducts statistical surveys across the Emirate without prejudice to the interest of national statistical work. SCAD is also responsible for the collection, classification, storage, analysis and dissemination of official statistics and the release of the results of social, demographic, economic, environmental, and cultural surveys. The activities of the Centre encompass all statistical areas in accordance with relevant international standards and ethics, such as independence, professionalism, impartiality, objectivity, confidentiality, cost effectiveness, and quality of statistics. Accordingly, SCAD plays a key role in providing statistical data required for the setting of plans, programs and policies that are based on accurate and up-to-date facts and figures. SCAD seeks to become a mainstay that effectively serves decision and policy makers. SCAD aims to meet the needs of the public, business community, researchers, and media in the context of its function as a key source for statistical data collection. SCAD collection processes follow the latest criteria, methods and technologies, as does SCAD's data processing and analysis of indicators that serve development purposes.
